Use case

After-hours calls, answered like it's your best morning.

Most restaurants take 15–30% of their inbound calls outside business hours — catering questions, holiday hours checks, and callers who don't know you close at 9. Fire It answers with your greeting, your hours, and your menu.

The short answer

After-hours restaurant phone answering means answering (or intelligently routing) calls that come in when your shop is closed. Fire It answers with your configured greeting, quotes hours, captures catering leads, offers a text callback, and — if your hours logic permits — captures next-day pickup orders.

What after-hours callers actually want

A generic voicemail wastes all five. Fire It answers each with real content: your holiday overrides, your catering lead intake form, your delivery ZIP list, and — for shops that opt in — a next-day pickup capture flow with the same structured semantics as live-hour orders.

  • Hours and holiday-hours checks.
  • Catering questions and next-day quotes.
  • Address, parking, and delivery-radius checks.
  • Left-behind property or callback requests.
  • Next-day pickup orders if you accept them.

Hours logic is a first-class concept

Fire It's store settings expose weekly hours, holiday overrides, and special-event hours. The agent honors those settings without you rebuilding the schedule anywhere else. If you say the shop is closed on July 4th, the agent quotes July 5th open time and behaves accordingly.

The confirmation guarantee still holds

Even for next-day pickup orders captured overnight, Fire It uses the same confirmation semantics: the caller hears "captured, headed to the kitchen for confirmation," and the order goes into your internal queue for morning acknowledgment. Nothing is auto-confirmed while the shop is closed.

The three overnight-call archetypes

Overnight calls sort neatly into three groups: hours-and-address, catering leads, and callers who don't know you're closed. Fire It answers each differently because the right response differs. Hours callers hear your specific closing time and next-day open time from your live settings. Catering callers walk through a structured intake and get a promise that the manager will call back. Confused callers get a friendly acknowledgment plus your address so the ones headed to the right restaurant still make it. Voicemail collapses all three into a message; Fire It splits them apart at the front door.

Next-day pickup capture — when it makes sense

Overnight next-day capture is powerful for cafes, delis, and catering-forward concepts where callers plan ahead. It's less useful for late-night pizza where the caller wants dinner in twenty minutes. Fire It exposes this as a per-location opt-in with a policy attached: which items are captureable overnight, what pickup window is quoted, and whether a card is pre-authorized. That gives owners a real lever without a marketing-driven default that would create morning-of confusion the moment the kitchen opens.

  • Opt-in per location — enable overnight capture only where it fits.
  • Windowed pickup quoting — quote first-available times from your make-time policy.
  • Optional card pre-auth — reduce no-show rates for higher-ticket overnight orders.
  • Morning acknowledgment queue — the ticket waits for your team's daybreak review.

Why holiday hours are a first-class field

Every restaurant learns the pain of a Thanksgiving-morning caller who reaches a voicemail that still says 'we're open today at eleven.' Fire It's holiday-hours model is a first-class calendar with overrides you can set weeks in advance, and the agent honors them without a person editing an IVR tree at six a.m. That is unglamorous plumbing, and it's the difference between an after-hours system that runs itself and one that quietly embarrasses you on the biggest phone day of the year.

Good fit if

Where Fire It actually helps

  • You get catering, hours, and address calls after close.
  • You want to capture next-day pickup orders overnight (optional).
  • You want holiday hours honored without a person editing IVR trees.
Honest limits

What we don't claim

  • Cash on pickup timing depends on your team's morning workflow.
  • We won't auto-confirm overnight orders without your policy allowing it.
Questions we get

Straight answers

Yes — for next-day pickup, if you enable it. The caller is told the estimated pickup window and the order lands in your queue for morning confirmation.
